Vindolanda boasts major Roman ruins, and a captivating museum.
Hadrian’s Wall snakes across the pastoral landscape. The group relaxes for lunch with a view of the Wall.
On to York, site of magnificent York Minster.
An entertaining tour of York Minster allowed appreciation of the sculptures.
The Romans are still present in York!
The lack of photos from York is due to visiting local medical facilities, which was an experience in itself. My doctor recommended being seen via email, so off we went to the York Hospital. Staff was helpful, friendly and competent, and nobody asked us for money.
Compared to the US, the wait seemed long, and it was obvious no investment had been made in interior design at the facility. The issue was effectively resolved, but we had to physically wait on site for lab results, rather than viewing them online later, as we do at home.
Bottom line, care was proficient and free, but decidedly no frills, perhaps a trade off the US should consider to some degree.
First up tomorrow is a train trip to London, the concluding objective on the tour schedule.
